Babergh and Mid Suffolk have consistently been voted amongst the top places to live in the UK. We are proud of the role we and our teams play in creating the environment, economy and communities for our districts.
Key to our locality approach is a real focus on our town centres across both districts especially in these challenging times. Our towns more than ever need a collaborative approach to build resilience, seek areas of growth and ensure future sustainability of our centres.
We are therefore seeking a creative, innovative and delivery focused Town Centre vision co-ordinator for initially a 2 year fixed term contract, who can accelerate the 5 Town Vision work which was launched by the Council in 2018. The Vision work was developed in part as a response to the national decline in towns as retail centres and a key part of the role moving forward will be supporting the introduction and integration of a range of non retail uses which can transform our places into creative, cultural, leisure and heritage centres.
The Co-ordinator role will be working with a range of internal and external partners, stakeholders and members of the local business community and residents to develop our place visions further and encourage collaboration and joint delivery across our localities. A key part of the role will be engagement, so we are seeking someone with strong communication, leadership and negotiation skills who is passionate about the success of our towns.
*This role is normally based at our modern and conveniently located office accommodation, however, during the COVID 19 pandemic, we have been working at home and it has worked really well for us.
We offer a generous leave entitlement, access to the Suffolk Green Travel Plan, discount scheme and pension scheme. We also offer a range of training and development and will give you all the support you need, for your career and wellbeing.
We are committed to agile and flexible working (subject to business need), with full time, part time or job share opportunities considered. Supporting equality and diversity, Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils provide opportunity and ambition for all, enabling and empowering our people to deliver the best possible results for our residents.
If you think this role is of interest and you could make a real difference to the success of our town centres please call Fiona Duhamel for an informal discussion on 01449 724608.
