We are looking for an experienced person to join our Planning Enforcement team, someone who shares our values, commitment and motivation to make a difference for our districts.

To apply for the position you will need to hold a relevant degree or a Certificate in Planning Enforcement and be able to demonstrate up-to-date and detailed knowledge and experience in the enforcement of planning law.

You will have a strong work ethic, possess good communication and report writing skills, and will be keen and ambitious. 

You will need:

  • to be able to work well independently and as part of the team, with minimal supervision
  • excellent customer service skills.

You will be working on a busy case load and will be tasked with carrying out inspections and assessing developments to ascertain breaches of planning legislation. 

In addition, you will need to have the ability to advise customers of the appropriate course of action to resolve a breach and, when necessary, draft notices, collect evidence and prepare legal proceedings for action against offenders. Knowledge of the law around the protection and conservation of listed buildings would also be desirable.

You will be required to make site visits in a large rural area and so will need to hold a driving licence and have access to a vehicle.

This is a career grade post, therefore appointment at the different entry levels will be dependent upon the knowledge, skills and experience of the successful applicant.

This role is normally based at our modern and conveniently located office accommodation, however, during the COVID-19 pandemic, we have been working from home and it has worked really well for us.
