We are looking for a Technical Support Officer to work in our busy office providing support to the Strategic Planning Team and the wider Development Management, Heritage and Planning Enforcement Teams.
This is an ideal platform to develop a career within planning. You will need to be enthusiastic, motivated, keen to learn, share our values, and possess the drive and ambition to succeed.
Working together across our Councils and with our partners in the public, private and voluntary sectors, we provide excellent services to our 190,000 residents across Babergh and Mid Suffolk – working hard to provide homes, support our communities, boost local economy, protect our environment and keep our districts clean, tidy and safe.
Our ideal candidate will be flexible, pro-active and have a willingness to take ownership of tasks. Excellent communication skills by phone and email are essential. The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for progressing major development sites across both Districts providing day to day support to the Strategic Planning Officers in addition to assisting with general customer service enquiries, therefore the ability to prioritise workloads is essential.
You will need to be accurate and methodical in your approach with an ability to work both on your own and as part of a team. With excellent IT skills you will regularly use a variety of software to input data and research information. You will have the ability to organise meetings and events including relevant note taking.
*This role is normally based at our modern and conveniently located office accommodation, however, during the COVID 19 pandemic, we have been working from home and it has worked really well for us.
We offer a generous leave entitlement, access to the Suffolk Green Travel Plan, discount scheme and pension scheme. We also offer a range of training and development and will give you all the support you need, for your career and wellbeing.
We are committed to agile and flexible working (subject to business need), with full time, part time or job share opportunities considered. Supporting equality and diversity, Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils provide opportunity and ambition for all, enabling and empowering our people to deliver the best possible results for our residents.
