Welcome to East Suffolk
Thank you for your interest in joining our team here in East Suffolk and making a positive difference to our communities.
We are in exciting times! Having operated as a partnership of two Councils (Suffolk Coastal and Waveney) for just over 10 years, on 1 April 2019 we formally merged to create East Suffolk Council, a brand new, super district council. Not only were we one of the very first to do this, but we are now one of the largest district councils in the country, from Lowestoft in the North to Felixstowe in the South. I am very proud to be the Chief Executive of a workforce which has adapted to change and transformed the way it works, providing excellent services to almost 250,000 residents across East Suffolk.
I would like to draw your attention to a key document that sets out the Council’s ambitions for East Suffolk - our Strategic Plan. The Strategic Plan drives forward and directly influences our work and follows five core themes:
- Growing Our Economy
- Enabling Our Communities
- Remaining Financially Sustainable
- Delivering Digital Transformation
- Caring For Our Environment
The role you are applying for will contribute towards one or more of these themes and I would encourage you to take some time out to read through the Plan.
We believe East Suffolk is a great place to work and we value our staff, and the contribution they make, enormously. However, we know that to continue succeeding it is essential for us to not only recognise and employ talented people, but also to develop and retain them within the organisation.
We now occupy modern, purpose built office accommodation in Lowestoft and Melton which provide flexible and open plan working facilities which reflect our ambitious and progressive approach to building outstanding teams to deliver outstanding services. We also offer a range of flexible working opportunities too.
We believe that East Suffolk is a fantastic place to live and work; we look forward to receiving your application and I wish you every success.
