East Suffolk Council is an exciting place to work and a great place to make a real difference to people’s lives, delivering vital services to a quarter of a million people across East Suffolk.

In January 2020 the Council was awarded additional Rough Sleeper Initiative Funding from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) to continue to work towards ending Rough Sleeping. As the MHCLG want the Council to deliver at pace the funding is ring fenced and must be used in 20/21.

You will be part of the Housing Needs Team who are responsible for delivering advice and assistance to people who are homeless or threatened with homelessness. The purpose of the role will be to provide

a) Intensive specialist resettlement  support to those individuals who have  been either street homeless or who are threatened with homelessness and to prevent or relieve their homelessness, primarily within a private rented sector offer of accommodation and assist in long-term tenancy sustainment, and

b) To actively assist in procuring units of accommodation within the private rented sector as a long-term housing solution, as well as promote all private rented sector access schemes currently run by the Council across East Suffolk

In return, we can offer great opportunities for training and development and we will give you all the support we can to build a great career with our organisation. There’s also a superb benefits package including flexible working options and purpose, as well as a generous leave entitlement, discount scheme, pension scheme and free car parking.

Due to the current situation with Covid-19, the majority of our teams are working from home and there is strict social distancing measures in place for the limited number of staff working from our offices. If you wish to discuss how that might impact your working arrangements if you were the successful candidate, please contact the recruiting manager listed at the bottom of this advert.

Please read the job description and person specification before applying for this job.

Secondment requests will be considered for both internal and external candidates.
