In January 2020 the Council was awarded additional Rough Sleeper Initiative Funding from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) to continue to work towards ending Rough Sleeping. As the MHCLG want the Council to deliver at pace the funding is ring fenced and must be used in 20/21.

Rough sleeping attracts a significant level of concern and scrutiny both nationally and locally. The purpose of the role will be to provide assertive outreach across East Suffolk. The postholder will investigate instances of individuals sleeping rough in the East Suffolk Council area and liaise with the Housing Needs Service. The main areas of outreach will be the Lowestoft area, and market towns across the wider East Suffolk area. You will be required to work unsocial hours.
