  • Key Responsibilities: either 'Curriculum Design and implementation' or 'Equality'

Required from September 2021.

Harleston CE Primary Academy are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated Assistant Headteacher.

We are on a journey of rapid improvement, rooted in research and are looking for a strong leader to ensure that our key priorities are met so that all our children are given the opportunities they need to flourish and grow with respect, responsibility and resilience.

We are a forward thinking community, with a drive to improve the education of our children.  We want to recruit a person who is passionate about making a positive impact on our children’s lives and want to challenge themselves to keep on improving.

We are looking to employ an Assistant Headteacher who will work well as part of our school team, with supportive Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher, colleagues and governors who ensure that all pupils make progress from nursery through to Year 6.

The school is part of the St Benet’s Multi Academy Trust (under the Diocese of Norwich).

We are looking for someone who:

  • will enable children to flourish both academically and socially
  • is a good or outstanding classroom practitioner with high expectations and a commitment to continuously raise standards
  • has a positive outlook in order to rise to the many challenges teaching presents
  • can inspire children to promote our positive ethos
  • shows initiative, drive and enthusiasm
  • is an excellent team member with a ‘can do’ attitude
  • builds positive relationships with pupils, parents, staff, governors and the wider community

We offer in return:

  • a strong Christian ethos
  • 0.7 (FTE) class responsibility
  • many opportunities to build on your own knowledge
  • a caring community of supportive staff, Governors and Trustees
  • a beautiful town setting and inspiring environment
  • a forward thinking school
  • large outdoor learning spaces

The school has a federated governing body with the local secondary school, Archbishop Sancroft High School who, with St Benet’s Multi-Academy Trust, is currently working hard for us to become an all through school over the next 12-18 months.

The opportunity lies before us to create something very special for the community of Harleston. The journey ahead is not going to be without its challenges, as we are looking to build something that many people find hard to imagine. However, for those who have the energy, vision and drive to make it succeed, this will transform the educational provision for many generations to come with the opening of the new all-through school.

When the all-through school opens the intention is that this position would be altered to work within the wider school needs.

This is a real opportunity for staff and the wider community to be part of something new and exciting, but it will need enthusiastic, creative leadership from the existing school leaders.  It will allow many of the initiatives and relationships developed through the trust, including the federated governing body, to flourish.

If you would like to be part of this, we would love to hear from you. Visits are warmly welcomed. If you would like to find out more please contact Hannah Holgate, Headteacher by telephone on (01379) 853211 or email Ava Barber: abarber@harleston.stbenets.org

An application pack can be downloaded from the related information section. Completed applications should be emailed to: abarber@harleston.stbenets.org

Interview date: w/c 17 May 2021.
